Built for the first Ming emperor and empress, the large tomb partially fell into ruins. Fortunately, you can still cross the unique sacred way which will lead you to where the Hongwu Emperor was buried.
In the afternoon, take all the energy you can climb the 392 steps to the Mausoleum of Dr. Sun Yat-sen. Once arrived at the top, you can then explore the tomb of this great man considered the father of modern China. For less fans of history, the view from the summit will offset the rise, overlooking the rest of the city.
At last, back a few decades by visiting the Nanjing Massacre Memorial. Enter lightly in this place as it is full of emotions. You will discover the events marking what experiences this ancient capital on the eve of the Second World War. This site has nothing of a European memorial.
