Overnight Soft Sleeper Train to Hohhot

Transit in Beijing

You arrive at the Beijing Capital International Airport, and then you will go to the West Railway Station on your own. If time permits you can freely explore Beijing on your own. Your night train leaves at midnight so be sure to take your dinner before boarding. Experience the first class soft sleeper to get to Hohhot, the provincial capital of Inner Mongolia. Then the adventure begins.

Grasslands of Inner Mongolia

You will arrive at the station early in the morning and your Inner Mongolian guide is there to welcome you. Breakfast is not included, so prepare your breakfast before departure or you can order some cookies on the train prior to arrival.Upon arrival, you will be directly driven to visit the Huitengxile Grassland, which the Mongolian nomads have used to establish their camp. As you explore, you discover the traditions of Mongolian horse racing and view melee-style wrestling around the small villages. You can even try to compete with an opponent! Now unleash your inner explorer as you ride a Mongolian horse to venture around this vast prairie, which is located 1800 meters above sea level. In the evening, gather with the rest of the village to dance while feeling the cool breeze of the steppes. Conclude your day of adventure with a peaceful night's rest in a traditional home, the Mongolian yurt.
Tonight, try the traditional grilled Mongolian lamb! This unique experience is not over, that night you will sleep in a traditional Mongolian yurt.

Overnight in a Mongolian yurt

This morning, in the most traditional district of Hohhot, visit Dazhao Temple. Oldest and largest Buddhist temple in the city, this lamasery contains unparalleled wonders. You can admire the statue of Sakyamuni that the third Dalai Lama came to inaugurate in-person. Do not miss the two protective golden dragons and splendid frescoes depicting the history of Buddhism. Then, go in the old city of Hohhot to visit the Five Pagodas Temple. Although it remains more than a building, the building is considered one of the finest in the city. The five pagodas overlooking the building is a beautiful view to see. You can even approach them. Then go see the back wall of the temple, which is probably the single chart of its kind in Mongolian.

Desert Escapade

Today, you will go to Baotou and will stop to visit the Meidaizhao Lamasery on the way. Giving the appearance of a fortress, you quickly lose that feeling once through the door. In this former residence of Altan Khan, you will discover magnificent palaces. Amidst this Lamasery, which also served as a clearinghouse of Tibetan Buddhism, you can admire many temples and prayer rooms. On the way, you will also visit at a factory of local crafts. Moreover, near the west border to visit the Kubuqi desert and prepare to explore beautiful sand dunes. As you take a camel in the middle of a sea of sand and you walk away, you will feel quickly to be alone in the world. The blue goes perfectly with that golden ocean. Go through the singing sand to try to hear the drums beat.
After the desert escapade, you will spend the night in Baotou.

Mongolian Lamas

After breakfast, explore the mountains of Inner Mongolia to discover the imposing Wudangzhao Monastery. Out of nowhere in this beautiful green valley shines this majestic monastery. You feel as though you have arrived in Tibet, with the white walls and surrounding temples.
Get out of  the monastery and pass the residence of the monks, you will arrive at the back of the monastery. There, a local family will cook for you with raw vegetables in the yard and nothing is better to relax in such an atomosphere.

After lunch, you will be driven to the Hohhot Airport for your flight to Xian, Upon arrival, your driver will pick you up at the arrival hall and then will be driven to the hotel for rest. Tomorrow morning, you will again tbe transferred to the airport for the flight to Xining.

In the morning, you will be transferred to the airport for the flight to Xining, Qinghai. Upon arrival, the guide will greet you at the arrival and then you will be transferred to the hotel. This afternoon, you can relax or explore on your own. Visit the largest mosque in the province, Dongguan Mosque. This beautiful complex of buildings will leave you a different feel. Mixture of Chinese and Islamic architecture, the different buildings all have a special charm. Enjoy walking around the neighborhood where food stalls, dried fruits and clothes come together.

Get out of Xining to visit one of the largest Tibetan monasteries outside Tibet, the Kumbum Monastery. As the birthplace of the founder of the famous Yellow Hats sect, you will be seized by the sacred atmosphere that still exists in the scene. As a major shrine, you will have the opportunity to cross pilgrims prostrating themselves face down the group to pray in the front of the halls. Of course, you shouldn't miss the delicate Tibetan butter sculptures made by monks.

After 3-4 hour drive in the mountains of the former Tibetan Amdo, you will reach the town of Tongren and the famous Longwu Monastery. Head to Xiahe and visit the largest Gelugpa monastery outside Tibet, the Labrang Monastery. In this part of Gansu called little Tibet, you will feel like going through the deepest part of Tibet. Head to the magnificent Bingling Temple Grottoes in Linxia. To access the site, you will first take a cruise above the Yellow River. You can admire the unique landscapes during the cruise. Upon arrive at the caves, go to the middle of the cliffs to discover incomparable masterpieces, some represent one of the earliest Buddhist monuments of China. You can't remain indifferent to the finesse of some of these sculptures, all in a millennium ocher decor.

After then, you will be transferred to the capital of Gansu for overnight, Lanzhou.

Inside Sichuan

In the early morning, take a flight to Sichuan. Upon arrival in Chengdu, go directly to the county of Aba to visit the Taoping Qiang Village, housing a large number of Qiang people of Sichuan. Ancient Irrigation System in China

Go to nearly 60 km away from Chengdu to the stunning Dujiangyan Irrigation System. Built there more than 2250 years, is one of the oldest still in use hydraulic engineering project today. Go to visit the Temple of City God, a former Taoist temple, before taking an escalator going up to the Yulei pagoda where you have a view on this irrigation system that demonstrates the ingenuity of the Chinese people at the time. Return in the same way and then cross the Min River on the bridge of concrete and steel Nanqiao.
In the afternoon, take time to appreciate life through the Chengdu Wide and Narrow Alleys. You won't forget the extraordinary experience that you have here in Chengdu. Discover a beautiful mural to depict the 500-meter long cultural and recreational alleys in Sichuan. But mostly enjoy the flavors come straight from restaurants and hawkers stalls. Stop in front of the wooden carts if you wish to enjoy some of the famous Sichuan snacks.

Fly to Yunnan

This morning, you will take a flight to Lijiang. Upon arrival, you guide will greet you at the arrival hall and then be transferred to th hotel in Lijiang. This afternon, wander through the maze of alleyways of the old town of Lijiang. Amidst this unique picturesque site, you will plunge several centuries back. The traditional architectures blend beautifully with the splendid landscape, which consists of cobbled alleys interspersed by small channels, all with the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain in the background. In Lijiang, enter the Residence of the Mu family. See its reflection of how Naxi culture opens its doors to other peoples, such as the way that its new buildings are a mixture of Naxi architecture, Han, Tibetan and even Bai influences. Then ride to the Lion Hill to have a superb view over the rooftops of Lijiang old town.

Naxi Ethnic Group in Yunnan

Today, first head to the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. Upon arrival,watch the Impression Lijiang show at 3,100 meters above sea level. In the park of the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, with snowy peaks as a backdrop, discover the musical traditions and lifestyles of ethnic groups in Yunnan. Four hundred players from these groups will make you live a unique experience to the sound of drums and galloping horses. Take the cable car to Jade Dragon Snow Mountain and its Yak meadow. Discover a part of this majestic mountain snowcapped throughout the year. Once in the meadow, push up the mountain through one of the many hiking opportunities. On a clear day, you will have splendid views of the valley below and the snow-capped peaks of the mountain. In the scenic area, visit the Museum of Dongba culture that you will reveal more about this special cultural governed by shamans. Descend into the valley to see the Temple of Jade Summit, which is one of the few lamaseries in the Valley of Lijiang. Created by the sect of the Red Caps, you'll be aware of the Naxi culture's influence and their appreciation of other religions. Stroll through the garden and see some of the multiple colors of camellias in the garden during the spring.
In the afternoon, discover the beautiful frescoes of the Baisha village. This village was the capital of the Naxi kingdom before the conquest of Kublai. Even today, a visit here is like you are walking through a town that is frozen in time, where the Naxi architecture is visible everywhere. Be sure to pass by the pavilion of Liuli and Dabaoji palace to admire the incomparable frescoes by the Naxi, Tibetan and Han painters. These murals are quite unique.

Tiger Leaping Gorge

After 3-4 hours of driving, you will arrive at the famous Tiger Leaping Gorge. Choose from a multitude of steps or a peaceful path to reach the Tiger Leaping Gorge, in the heart of the turbulent Jinsha River. Here, the tiger's roar resounds in your ears. Then enjoy the excellent views of the entrance to the gorge and the water of the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain flowing into the river.
