Treasure of Tibetan buddhism

Today, you will leave the city center to discover one of the most important "Three Major Monasteries in Lhasa", the Drepung Monastery. From a distance, it gives the appearance of a fortified city, but once inside, you will feel the sacredness of the place. Former residence of the first Dalai Lama, this monastery is one of the largest monastic universities in Tibet. In its gardens, you will probably see monks debating on Buddhist texts.
In the afternoon, go north of Lhasa to visit the fantastic
Sera Monastery. It is considered as one of the most important monasteries in Lhasa. In the main hall, scriptures, statues, scent cloth and mural were seen in profusion. Several religious rituals and rite are conducted in the Great Assembly Hall. In the afternoon, stay a moment in the garden of the monastery to attend debates between local monks.

Symbol of Tibet

This morning, visit the symbol of Lhasa and important location for all Tibetans, the Potala Palace. Built at an altitude of 3,700m, it is a splendid museum contained numerous treasures. You may be speechless at the sight of these works are so unique. Everything here is made of gold, silver and precious stones.
Then, visit the most sacred Buddhist temple in the eyes of Tibetans, the Johkang Temple. Before entering the various rooms of this vast place for pilgrimage, the roof of the monastery announces color. Here, everything is finely engraved along with gilded sculptures. Whether seeing the Buddha statue or Thangkas, you will find every corner here is shining.
Last, stroll through the old neighborhood surrounding the Jokhang Monastery, the Barkhor Street. Some of its streets follow the path of prayers of pilgrims from all over Tibet, so you can see them bow every three steps. In this lively environment, admire the traditional Tibetan architecture and find an array of typical souvenirs from Tibet!

Holy Lake in Tibet

Today, go 110 kilometers southwest of Lhasa to admire one of the three sacred lakes in Tibet, the Yamdrok Yumtso Lake. More than for its religious character, this lake will seize the beauty of turquoise waters. Contrasting sharply with the surrounding mountain scenery, you cannot take your eyes off this dazzling immensity.
On the way to Shigatse, visit the
Palcho Monastery or Pelkor Chode Monastery , one of the few temples in Tibet to consolidate three Tibetan schools. In this monastery with circular enclosure, you will discover magnificent artworks. Do not miss to climb up the 14 floors of Kumbum Chorten, the largest pagoda in Tibet. Passing its 76 rooms, you can admire the statues of 100,000 Buddhas.
Upon arrival at Shigatse, you will be transferred to the hotel in Shigatse.

Discover the traditional residence of the Panchen Lama, Tashilhunpo Monastery. Giving the impression of a city, this huge monastery contains numerous treasures. You will be impressed by the size of the copper statue of Maitreya Buddha, and the richness of the materials used. Beauty will be the same for different stupas of Panchen Lama.
This afternoon, you will have some free time to explore the city of Shigatse. Stroll in a local market where you can probably find something you like.

Today, you will head to Tsetang and will have a long time driving before reaching the hotel in Testang. We will choose to drive along the Yarlun Tsangpo River. if you feel bored, we will stop in a small Tibetan village for a visit. This morning, explore the Samye Village of Tibet where the Samye Monastery is hidden. Arriving at the monastery, you will be impressed by the particular form of all buildings, surrounded by a circular wall. The monastery, which is the official foundation of Tibetan Buddhism, is steeped in history. Strolling amidst temples allow you to soak up the atmosphere of sacred places.
In the afternoon, take a deep breath for the climbing tour to the Yumbulagang Palace. Once there, you will not be disappointed with the effort; the entire valley with the traditional village and agricultural crops will extend out of sight.
