The essentials of Tibet tour

This morning, visit the symbol of Lhasa and important location for all Tibetans, the Potala Palace. Once inside, you may see a line of visitors waiting to discover the incomparable treasures contained in this religious center of Tibetan Buddhism. You may be surprised at the sight of these unique works. Everything here is made of gold, silver and precious stones.
In the afternoon, visit the most sacred Buddhist temple in the eyes of Tibetans, the Johkang Temple. Before entering the various rooms of this vast place for pilgrimage, the roof of the monastery is quite impressive. Here, everything is finely engraved along with gilded sculptures. Whether seeing the Buddha statue or Thangkas, you will find it is shining every corner here.
Then, stroll through the old neighborhood surrounding the Jokhang Monastery, the Barkhor Street. Some of its streets follow the path of prayers of pilgrims from all over Tibet, so you can realize that they bow every three steps. In this lively environment, admire the traditional Tibetan architecture and enjoy the market to find an array of typical souvenirs from Tibet!

The charming Lhasa

If you agree to get up early in the morning, we will climb to the top of Chakpori Hill, also called Yao Wang Shan. Although there are a few temples on the way, there is no nearby view that compares to the amazing views you will have from this particular site. Here, the beauty of the Potala Palace will provide you with snapshots of the city below and the surrounding valleys that appear majestic in front of the horizon.
Then, go north of Lhasa to visit the fantastic Sera Monastery. Being considered as one of the most important monasteries in Lhasa, you will discover that it unfortunately has lost its splendor. Nevertheless, you can observe beautiful treasures in gold. In the afternoon, stay a moment in the garden of the monastery to attend debates between local monks.
Last, strolling through shady alleys of Norbulingka can be relaxing. This summer palace of the Dalai Lama will seem very peaceful and refreshing. Enjoy the huge park but do not miss the palace where successive spiritual leaders resided. Each palace excels in beauty and hidden treasures. It is no surprise that its Tibetan name has the meaning of Treasure Park.
