Local Life Experience

Upon arrival at the Beijing Capital International Airport, the local guide will meet you at the arrival hall and then you will be transferred to visit the Hutong. As you ride in a rickshaw in the Hutongs, prepare to dive deeper into this unique atmosphere of old Beijing. The doors of the famous courtyard houses are open to you, as you experience being around working-class families as they enjoy life in these old homes. When sharing a meal with a typical Beijing Hutong family, you will learn about the customs and traditional ways of life in these neighborhoods.

Imperial Architectures

This morning, while fixing your eyes on this huge Tiananmen Square, symbol of historical changes in China, soak up the Chinese patriotic atmosphere. Take a symbolic picture in the center of the square before walking along its underpass, which leads to the Forbidden City. Then, pass the Tiananmen Gate and begin the tour of Forbidden City. Stroll between the walls steeped in history and this huge imperial palace touched by the footsteps of emperors from past Chinese dynasties. Pass by the Palace interiors and courtyards to see how past will reveal its treasures and mysteries. Enjoy the Palace museum to relax in a unique atmosphere.
In the afternoon, you will climb the small slope of the Jingshan Park to reach the Wanchun Pavilion. From here you experience memorable views of the golden roofs of the Forbidden City, the National Grand Theatre and the central axis of the capital. Then discover the National Grand Theater, a world famous architectural work close to the Forbidden City. Unless there is any special event, this gigantic egg enthroned in the midst of artificial waters will open the doors of its theaters and its mysteries. This is definitely worth visiting.

This morning, you will spend some time hunting in the largest flea market in Beijing, the Panjiayuan Antique Market. You may even have fun engaging in the Chinese custom of bargaining as you find goods across China at the best price.
Then, experience a tour back to a time of ancient worship by visiting the Temple of Heaven. A shrine of Heaven and symbol of Beijing, the Temple is believed to be as important as the Forbidden City, or even more because the emperor is the son of Heaven. If there is not too crowded, a stroll through the extensive gardens and corridors of the park will immerse you in the lives of old Beijing.
In the afternoon, visit the architectural treasures of the largest imperial garden in China, the Summer Palace. Built based on models of the most beautiful gardens of Suzhou and the shores of West Lake in Hangzhou, this huge garden is full of history and will make you forget all your worries. There is even a chance for a short cruise on the calm Kunming Lake. After visiting the Summer Palace, explore the Pearl Factory. This factory is where the ancient culture of freshwater pearls will reveal its secrets, which traces back to how these beads began being processed 2,200 BC.
Tonight, enjoy one of the most delicate Chinese cuisine dishes: the Beijing Roast Duck. You will enjoy this ancient dish in one of the best restaurants in Beijing.

Great Wall Visit

Today, you will visit the most adventurous site of Great Wall at Jinshanling. A trek of 10 km on the Jinshanling Great Wall with few tourists helps you to discover exceptional landscapes and it is worthwhile enough for a few hours on this wild escapade.

By late afternoon, you will head to Chengde. After 2-hour drive, you will arrive at Chengde and then will be driven to have dinner.

Summer Retreat

In the morning, you will be guided to the Chengde Mountain Resort. This tour to the series of palaces and outer temples will satisfy your interest on history and art. Enjoy relaxing while taking a leisurely stroll through the surrounding gardens, lakes, lawns and woods. The magnificence of the imperial architectures and natural wonders of the landscape makes the mountain resort worth a visit. Do not be surprised by the appearance of the Chinese temple, pass through the door of the Puning Temple and visit a magnificent Tibetan Buddhism style. In addition to the mountainous scenery, visit the pavilion of Mahayana and admire the largest wooden statue of bodhisattva in the world
Then, visit Putuo Zongcheng Temple and experience the sacred small “Potala Palace” in Chengde. You will discover the Tibetan Buddhism culture while visiting each hall and also admire the stunning views by overlooking the temple while you reach the top. So, you will be impressed by the magnificence of the Mountain temple. Last, visit the Xumi Fushou Temple, where the sixth Panchen Lama lived during the celebration of 70th birthday of Emperor Qianlong. Don't miss the great hall of the temple and its eight gorgeous sparkling dragons.
After visiting these places, you will return to Beijing by private car and prepare for the high speed train to Taiyuan.

Former Residence of the Wealthy

This morning your guide will take you to the train station to catch a bullet train to Taiyuan, capital of Shanxi. Once arrived, you won't walk around in the city but will be directly driven to the old city of Pingyao with your new guide.
Between Taiyuan and Pingyao, make a stop at the Qiao Family Compound. This house is a perfect example of successful merchants in Pingyao in 18th century. Visit this walled house and its maze of courtyards and rooms. You may recognize the scenery of the famous film Raise the Red Lantern shot by Zhang Yimou. 
In the late afternoon, you finally arrive at Pingyao and discover the lifestyle in the Ming and Qing dynasties through the walls of the Old City of Pingyao. If you wish, you can ask your guide or looking for a restaurant by yourself in the city center. The evening is promised to be exciting in these historical streets.

Overnight Soft Sleeper Train to Xian, first class

Inside Pingyao

You will spend the whole day visiting the Ancient City of Pingyao. The historical secrets of this walled city will be revealed. Stroll along the city walls where you'll be delighted by the view of the entire city. To admire the most charming panorama, it’s better to come in the early morning or late afternoon. Also take the time to stroll through the streets between famous traditional courtyard houses. The most interesting areas are in the southeast. Stop by Rishengchang, the largest bank in China at that time. Also get in the market to join the swarm of people in the streets to bargain for some souvenirs. If time permits, you can also go through the Temple of Confucius or the Chenghuang Temple.
In the evening, you will be transferred to the train station for the overnight train to Xian.

Inside Xian

This morning, visit the Stele Forest Museum and its impressive collection of stele calligraphy. Wander amid these steles and tombstones and learn an explanation on the history inscribed on the stone from time to time in English. Get into the third room of the museum to realize the immensity of Xian. After then, go a few miles outside of city wall and discover one of the most famous Buddhist pagodas. As a symbol of Xian, you could admire the city and realize Xian at the seventh floor of the Big Wild Goose Pagoda. After visiting the Big Wild Goose Pagoda, stop at a Jade Factory -the Chinese favorite treasure. Enjoy being with professionals to discover how jade is carved and the difference between real and fake.
In the afternoon, you will visit the Bell Tower and Drum Tower of Xian. The Bell Tower represents the heart of the old town. From here you can access the wooden tower via an underpass and have a breathtaking view on the four main streets of Xian, Whereas, Drum Tower marks the entrance to the Muslim Quarter.
Last, dive into the history of the province of Shaanxi. The huge Shaanxi History Museum is a treasure of China that leaves you speechless. From prehistory to the discovery of the Terracotta Army, you will figure out the constant changes that the people of the ancient capital Chang'an had made.

The Eighth Wonder of the World

This morning, climb up the Xian City Wall. Enjoy a stroll or even bike on the city wall to admire the city view with an overlook. Although it is impossible to make a complete tour of the city on the wall, the ride will be interesting.
Then, immerse yourself in the culture by visiting the Great Mosque and Muslim Quarter. Open your senses in the Muslim Quarter of the city and discover spices and dishes typical of the Hui ethnic group. Arrive at the Great Mosque of Xian, one of the four largest ancient mosques of China. Gardens and buildings open to non-Muslims will give you an overview of the Sino-Arab cultural mix in which many places are impregnated.
In the afternoon, get away downtown Xian to visit the eighth wonder of the world, the Terracotta Army. From the passage of the door, prepare to marvel at the craziest project by the first emperor of China. Although the tomb of Qin Shi Huangdi is never ever open, a few rooms containing objects have been observed as having accompanied the deceased. In an annex building, watch the story of the emperor and the construction of this magnificent tomb. The real size of the Terracotta Warriors will definitely leave you speechless and make you Xian tour unforgettable.
Indulge in the delicacy offered in a local restaurant, the Dumpling Dinner in Xian. Enjoy these dumplings with meat or vegetables stuffing. By the way, dumplings are the special dish for the Chinese New Year.

Grottoes of Luoyang

Early in the morning, go to Luoyang by high speed train, one of the ancient capitals of China. Upon arrival, go to see the impressive Longmen Grottoes, as this set of niches and caves contain untold treasures. Visit this Buddhist place of which is one of the three largest caves in China and let you be touched by the delicacy of these works of art from another time.
Then, leave Luoyang downtown and visit the White Horse Temple, the first Buddhist temple in China and the cradle of the Buddhist religion. Discover the story of the dream of Emperor Han and the evolution of the construction of this millenary temple, which is still very active today.

Chinese Kungfu

Today, head to the Shaolin Temple, nestled in the Song Mountain. This Buddhist temple, father of Kung Fu, is famous destination for Kung Fu lovers. You will have an opportunity to attend performance of this martial art based on the mastery of the body and amazing acting skills. Stroll in the forest of pagodas which is a real cemetery of monks.

In the afternoon, choose your preference to visit the Mount Song by cable car or on foot. You can enjoy the unique scenery offered by this mountain and discover the ancestral village of Sanhuang where primitive gods are still worshipped. After then, go down to find your driver.

4. Meals as stated in the itinerary. Chinese meal in a tourist restaurant or a local restaurant. The number of dishes varies according to the number of persons in the group. The meal also includes a glass of softdrink or beer.
5. Accommodations usually with breakfasts as state in the itinerary. Prices given are calculated on the basis of a double room or a twin-bed room for one night.
