Known for centuries as a fertile land of fish and rice, the province of Jiangsu is located in the orbit of Shanghai. Despite this, it has not prevented conversation of natural treasures, ancient and contemporary history which are presented in the Jiangsu travel guide. Jiangsu Overview

Located on the eastern coast of China, Jiangsu borders the country’s business capital, Shanghai. Jiangsu has taken advantage of its position to grow and become one of the richest provinces of China. The province provides charm to the landscapes and classical gardens.
Indeed, Jiangsu was occupied before the beginning of our era, where traces of ancient civilizations can be found. In fact, Nanjing or Nanking, the capital of the province, was the capital for six dynasties. It was also the capital of the Republic of China established in 1912. Due to its dynamic past and contemporary events, the Jiangsu region attracts various travelers. 
In addition, Jiangsu is known for its crafts, canals and classical gardens. Although the province has extremely fertile soil, it is known for its high quality silk and canal towns.

Nanjing is a great place for history buffs to visit. The city retains most traces of its ancient and contemporary past including the Mausoleum of Dr. Sun Yat-sen and the Temple of Confucius
The city of Suzhou is preferred when considering landscape travel. Suzhou gardens are among the most beautiful in China and the Grand Canal passes through part of the city. The silk factory is located in Suzhou. Other water towns are also famous including, Tongli, Zhouzhuang and Luzhi.

Best Time to Travel to Jiangsu

Located on the eastern coast, Jiangsu has a nice climate. The winters are not too cold, while spring is cool with some showers. The summers can be hot and humid, and the autumn is a bit dry. The Chinese, who admire a landscape under fog, prefer to travel to Suzhou in the spring and summer, but all seasons offer an equally unique visit.
