The Weifang World Kites Museum contains the most impressive kites in China and elsewhere. It presents the masterpieces that have won international competitions as well as the history and the culture of kite flying.

The city of Weifang, which is the capital of the kite, welcomes annually an international festival where all kite flyers of the world gather to present their latest creations. In order to keep track of the most beautiful masterpieces, a museum was opened in the city. It houses more than 1,000 kites having won awards for their beauty, their manufacture or their flying technique. Divided into eight rooms, the Museum offers also the history and culture of kite flying along with the evolution of manufacturing and flight techniques through reproduction and display of over 300 photos. Inside, you can admire details of the kites. Some have to be observed under the microscope to notice the delicacy of the work. The majesty of others can be seen from afar such as the largest kite that is 1.5 km long and weighs 3,000 kg.
