Qinglong Cave ancient architecture group in Zhenyuan

Qinglong Cave Zhenyuan Guizhou
The Qinglong Cave or Black Dragon Cave is a group of Buddhist and Taoist temples along the Wuyang River. These temples, half built and half caved into the cliff, represent a unique architectural masterpiece in the region. There is nothing like the view from the other side of the river, as it is very impressive. Once indoors, however, the detail of the buildings and the beauty of the statues are equally as interesting.

A Particular Complex

Qinglong Dong is regarded as a set of caves, and yet this isn't really it. In the town of Zhenyuan, across the Wuyang River, lies a set of temples half embedded in the cliff.
At a distance of 300 meters' long, follow the trail to pass the temples and shrines of the Taoist and Buddhist and notice how you may feel like you're in perfect harmony. Half formed by natural mountain caves, these temples are among the most splendid of China.

The History of Qinglong Caves

The first temple was built here in the 14th century under the reign of the Ming dynasty. The site was then expanded according to the donations made by rich merchants were succeeding in this region. The temples were unfortunately damaged during a fire in the 19th century and then during the Cultural Revolution. Some of the statues that can admire today in these caves temples are in fact splendid reproductions of their missing sister. It prevents the representations of the goddess Guanyin and the different Buddhas are really beautiful.

Wuyang River Cruise

Zhenyuan and the Qinglong Cave locate on the banks of the Wuyang River. The best way to appreciate the beauty of the place is to take a cruise on the river. At night, illuminated temples but also the rest of the ancient city are of great splendor. The traditional architecture of these buildings is highlighted by the lights effect on the roofs and windows. Even the bridges are lit. It is one of the most beautiful views over the city and the whole of temples. The cruise down the river through three gorges is also an experience to behold.
